Good Saturday afternoon. I have enjoyed reading all the comments. I am really enjoying all the ideas being shared. I wish we had the capabilities of video taping some of these ideas in action and then posting them to the blog or to our website so we could see the lessons and not just read about them. Any ideas on how we could do that? Any takers on trying?
I am curious as to whether anyone else is able to post- not just a comment but the main post- like this one. Since I created this blog- am I the only one that can write one on here? It has been a few years since I last blogged and I thought anyone who was invited could post on the main page as well as write in comments. Does anyone know the answer. I hope others can write on this main page- I am afraid I will run out of things to say. : >()
I have found that if I just log onto this page to post from blogger.com then I can write directly into the posting and I don't have to cut and paste- which is good. I think I had to cut and paste the first time since I was going in through Lotus Notes. Interesting...don't you think? That is just one of the things I have learned this week. : > )
Please share some of your thoughts and ideas...or any other topics for discussion. I wonder if we could include blogging as a strategy in our school improvement plan? Also, I need some ideas on the goal 2.2 or 2.3 which is about encouraging and supporting a healthy lifestyle of the staff...any ideas on how we could work on our health and peace of mind through school? I am working on our plan this weekend- fun fun...I am trying to pace myself so I don't implode my brain.
Have a great weekend and think "Snow"!

Another great idea for Group Incentive Project and/or Individual Skills Block....Encourage and Support Healthy Lifestyle of the staff
ReplyDeleteWe could have our very own Biggest Loser Contest.
Now that Becky's busy with baby Caroline in tow, she's unable to provide Zummba afterschool, but perhaps we could get a few sessions on the calendar for trainers to come in and provide meditation, exercise, relaxation, and other mind, body, and soul activities.
Staff could log exercise hours. Healthy bodies makes for healthy minds.
I like the idea of supporting a healthy lifestyle. It's an area I'd like to improve of myself. I like the idea of a "Biggest Loser" contest. I know that someone (maybe it was Sharon) who told me once that there was a certain mileage for the track outside, and also a mileage for laps inside the building. If we could know that information, we could do a walking contest...see who could be the first to "walk" across the United States. Have a map up in the lounge or workroom, and keep track of who walks how much. Then give some sort of prize to the first person to walk across the map. Just an idea.
ReplyDeleteWe did a "Walking Wednesday" last year and the students tracked their mileage throughout the year. Some classes really got into it and graphed their miles, charted it, predicted, changed their mileage into a trek...not across America- I think it was across NC or something. It was pretty cool. Talk about making their lessons meaningful and relevant. Think of the "mileage" you could get out of this idea!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the walking contest idea! We could also set a group goal or individual goals and each log our miles. Could we log online?! That way we could track as we go... Our goal could be the equivalent of walking to a significant place (maybe a place with historical importance). I can just imagine the halls filled in the afternoons with teachers committed to improving health; who knows--we might even share ideas as we walk or make a new friend!
ReplyDeletePS--I consider all of us teachers because we are all role models in this building and we all learn from each other! So, when I mentioned "teachers" in the post above, I was thinking of everyone in the building!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have some teachers who are already walking daily. I think we could track it on line- I am sure there are some sites that allow us to do that or we could keep an excel spreadsheet to keep track.
